Bluefaced Leicester wool is fine and dense with a good luster and is considered a British long wool, well suited to combing. Also known as BFL, it’s earned its name due to a dark blue face showing through white wool. Its fleece is in high demand from hand spinners and fiber artists because of its “next to the skin” softness and lustrous shine. Because it lacks surface scale on its fiber, it’s brighter and softer than other wools. Highly prized for its likeness to mohair and for its production of attractive lustrous yarns with good resilience. 26 Micron and an average length of 85-90mm. Soft Wool Top hand dyed by me. Picture is of actual braid.
