Cheviot/Blackface Wool is a great blended fiber for beginners and experienced spinners alike to spin. A blending of the Cheviot breed of sheep and the Scottish Blackface breed of sheep, this wool is very versatile and kemp free. The Cheviot sheep originate in the Cheviot Hills, on the border of England and Scotland. The Scottish Blackface sheep are a breed of domestic sheep from, yes, you guessed right ~ Scotland! The wool top is open without being slippery which is why it is an excellent wool for new spinners wanting an easy fiber with great staple length to learn on. Helical crimp - 3 dimensional structures that gives the wool resilience and bounce. The micron count is between 27-33, with a good staple length of 3-5 inches.
