Our beautiful Wensleydale top has one of the longest fibers in our natural breed range with a lot of the same characteristics as mohair. Wensleydale wool is a high luster longwool and described as very silky. The most distinguishing characteristic of the Wensleydale wool is the absence of kemp. This makes the yarn from Wensleydale wool very shiny, silky and soft. 30-40 microns, staple length averages 11.8 to 15.7 inches. Shiny wool that takes dye very well, producing intense rich colors.
Highly prized by felters for it's long staple length and lustrous appearance.
