Wispy White! A Welsh top with light wispy fibers running through. Welsh Mountain sheep, considered a primitive breed with their fiber at 31-35 microns is quite hairy and so well suited to their environment. Worth a spin just to try out this amazing hardy animals fleece.
The Welsh Mountain sheep is a dual purpose breed. It was raised mainly for wool and milk in the Middle Ages. Very hardy animals, they are well adapted to the harsh environment of their native area. They are small and sure-footed, and are able to pick their way over rock and scree for finding shelter in stormy weather. They can dig through snow, climb walls and push through small gaps. They are kept on the hills or open mountain in their native area all year round.
The fiber is approx. 31-35 microns and the length, 80-100 mm, is long enough to be combed. Perfect for hand spinning, hand felting and many other craft uses.
