Cheviot is a main British wool breed. A beautiful natural white color, the wool top is open without being slippery making it an excellent wool for beginner spinners. The wool practically spins itself. The yarn produced from Cheviot wool is a pleasure to knit, crochet and weave with.

This is top not roving. Top goes through an extra step to carefully align all the fibers in the same direction. Top is considered the highest quality spinning prep.

HISTORY: Cheviot sheep originated in the Cheviot Hills on the border of England and Scotland. They were referred to as the Border Cheviot and are the foundation stock for the Brecknock and the North Country Cheviots. This hardy breed can withstand harsh environments and are known for being great mothers. Cheviot tweeds are a traditional woven fabric, famous for their crispness and durability, which it popular for suiting material in both men and women fashions.
