Naturally beautiful with deep color tones and light texture this unusual fiber creates a heathered yarn when spun. A beautifully textured felting, spinning & crafting wool, made using 100% Faroe Island Wool. The Faroese sheep's wool, being a dual-coated ancient breed, does feature kemp/guard hairs. First introduced in the 9th century, these short-tailed sheep are a small, very hardy breed and have long been an integral part of the island traditions. They have been so vital to life there that they give the archipelago its name—Faroes means “sheep islands” in the Scandinavian Faroese language.
