Icelandic wool is dense with a good luster and is long. Therefore, it is well suited to combing. This is one of the best felting wool's in the world as it is lightweight, water repellent and breathable. 34-36 Micron, average length of 90-100mm. Beautiful natural shades of White, Grey and Black Icelandic minimally blended to produce a natural colored striped effect, similar in appearance to a humbug* sweet. Perfect for hand spinning, hand felting, 3D needle felting and many other craft uses.

*Humbugs are a traditional hard boiled sweet available in the United Kingdom, Ireland and elsewhere. They are usually flavored with peppermint and striped in two different colors.

The oldest pure breed — Icelandic sheep have been virtually unchanged in 1,000 years of isolation on the island country of Iceland. Genetically today this breed is the same as it was over 1,000 years ago. Possibly, it is the purest and oldest domesticated breed of sheep in the world currently. The breed has descended from the same stock as the Norwegian Spelsau, which was brought to Iceland by the first Viking settlers in the ninth and tenth century.
