Icelandic wool is dense with a good luster and is long. Therefore, it is well suited to combing. This is one of the best felting wool's in the world as it is lightweight, water repellent and breathable. 34-36 Micron, average length of 90-100mm. Beautiful natural White.
Suffolk wool, having a dense fleece and a relatively short staple length is commonly blended with longer staple wools of white, black, and gray, making it easier to spin and work with. It is a fairly bulky top, mostly suitable for outwear or anything that requires a nice dense and thick wool. It's officially called "Grey" but I find it more of a cross between grey and a lovely light brown. 80% Suffolk Wool 20% Half-bred Wool
The Merino breed was developed by Spanish Royalty from breeding the finest of Spain’s sheep with the sheep from North Africa. The result was the finest wool ever produced. To this day, Merino is foundation stock for many other fine wool's and Merino types. Our Merino is from South Africa (Cape) or South America depending on availability and is from non-mulsed sheep.
